Form validation according to another server response

Hi,

We are transmitting the form data to another server, where a validation is carried out.
The server gives a json response and according to that we would like to display a succes or failure message.
What would be the best hook in order to do that?

I’ve found this:

iphorm_pre_validate

but how can i return false if validation fails?
