Add Option to Dropdown Menu

I have a dropdown menu with 3 options: Select, Left-handed Widgets and Right-handed Widgets.
There is also a text field that is shown unless LHwidgets or RHwidgets is selected, allowing the user to enter Universal Widgets.
After the form is submitted, I need Universal Widgets to be listed as one of the options in the dropdown menu.
How can I do that?
