Adding user meta data

Hi,
I read your guide for Creating User and it works ! But I dont’know how insert user meta data when i create user ?

Can you write me complete code and where i must put this ? I I have insert your code in function.php but don’t works !
I would like create user with also name, surname for now i create user only with username, mail and password.
