An error occurred loading the preview (Ajax error)

Hello,
I am setting up a form in WordPress, and as soon as I add more than 7 input fields, I get an “An error occurred loading the preview (Ajax error)” message in the preview area and I can no longer save the changes to the form (an “Ajax error” message pops up on trying to save).

An otherwise empty form with five default checkbox items also has the same error.

What seems to be the issue here?

I think I solved it – the temporary directory was being difficult. Now the error’s gone! Thanks. 🙂
