Check if exists in external database and alert

Hello, I found a topic in the PHP side of your forum. Is there any chance I could see an example for wordpress? I need to create a form that allows users to enter a first name and last name, and when submitting, it will check the database. The link below seems to be a good headstart, but since I’m a wordpress buyer (instead of PHP) I can’t see your answers in the forum post.
