Path to save uploaded files

We want uploaded files to post directly to the root folder “wp-content/uploads” — no subdirectory, so that the files will post / be visible immediately in the media library.

When I leave the field called “Path to save uploaded files” blank — it defaults to iphorm/year/month/day.

Please advise. Thank you.

However, the uploaded file does not display in the media library. We can see it on the server and via the entries log, but not in the media library.
