query form / two forms same page

I am trying to create a query in a wordpress page I had been thinking in two option:
Option a) one form with a dropdown menu, when I select the option, make a database query and populate the rest of the fields of the same form;
Option b) two forms, same page, here I choose the option in the dropdown field and then send the option to make a query in the second form trough the pre-display hook.
Any suggestions?
