Status on entries other than "read" or "unread"

Is there a way to add status states to entries, for example “resolved” for a support ticket, or “approved” for a request?

So I was hoping to see this in the 1.5 version but I guess not. Is it better to assume that it will probably be out in thru 2.0 version?
