Using the Cycle feature – changing controls to be slide specific

Hello!

I’m using the shortcode for the cycle on my site. I’m trying to change the controls from being just “backwards” and “forwards” to being linked to specific slides, so someone could see the content of the slides in various orders.

I know this means editing the jquery – but I don’t want to screw this up. Can you help?
