The reCAPTCHA element helps prevent automated spam submissions using Google reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, or Cloudflare Turnstile. Depending on the provider and settings, verification may display a checkbox, present a challenge, or run without user interaction.
hCaptcha and Cloudflare Turnstile are available in Quform 2.17.0 or later.
Adding reCAPTCHA
Add a reCAPTCHA element to the form, then open its settings and choose a Provider.
Create API keys for your chosen provider and enter them at Forms → Settings → reCAPTCHA. The keys must match the provider and verification type you are using.
See these guides for setup instructions:
Save the element settings and the form, then submit a test entry from the page containing it.
Settings
The available settings depend on the selected provider, version, and size. Some settings may differ between Quform versions.
Basic
Label
Sets the label of the element.
Description
Sets description text to display below or above the verification widget.
Provider
Choose reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, or Cloudflare Turnstile.
Version
For Google reCAPTCHA, choose v2 or v3. Version v2 supports a checkbox or invisible verification. Version v3 checks interactions in the background and returns a score used to decide whether to accept the submission.
Size
For Google reCAPTCHA v2 and hCaptcha, choose Normal, Compact, or Invisible. Invisible verification may still display a challenge when the provider requires it.
For Cloudflare Turnstile, choose Normal, Compact, or Flexible. Flexible sizing adapts the widget width to its container. Older Quform versions use different Turnstile size options; see the setup guide for details.
Type
For Google reCAPTCHA v2, choose Image or Audio as the preferred challenge type.
Theme
Choose Light or Dark to match your form. Cloudflare Turnstile also supports Auto, which follows the user’s preferred color scheme.
Appearance
For Cloudflare Turnstile, choose Always visible or Hidden unless interaction is required.
Managed and Non-interactive widget keys can use either option. For Invisible widget keys, choose Hidden unless interaction is required.
If your Quform version does not have this setting, follow the Cloudflare Turnstile setup guide.
Badge
For invisible Google reCAPTCHA v2 and reCAPTCHA v3, choose where to display the badge: Bottom right, Bottom left, or Inline.
Language
Choose the language used by the verification widget, or use automatic language detection.
Threshold
For Google reCAPTCHA v3, sets the minimum score accepted for a submission. Scores range from 0.0 to 1.0, with higher scores indicating interactions more likely to be legitimate. Submissions with a score below the threshold are rejected. The default is 0.5.
